Dr. Yeow Cha

Biography

Yeow Siah Cha is a Senior Lecturer and Acting Deputy Director of Undergraduate Studies at the National University of Singapore in the Department of Psychology. Holding a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a B.Soc.Sci. from the National University of Singapore, his research interests encompass various aspects of prosocial behavior, including forms of cooperation in social dilemmas and empathy-related avoidance in helping situations. Cha’s scholarly contributions include notable studies such as examining the pitfalls of gathering data through the Internet, published in the International Negotiation journal, and investigating adaptive strategies within cultural contexts in works featured in collaborative academic volumes. His continued exploration into these areas has implications for understanding social dynamics and improving cooperative behaviors in complex interpersonal and intercultural interactions.
