Biography

Yesim Tozan is an Associate Professor at the NYU School of Global Public Health, specializing in Global Environmental Health. Her research focuses on health decision science, particularly in priority setting, cost-effectiveness analysis of healthcare interventions, and health care resource allocation in low- and middle-income countries. She leads a health economics work package on a European Union-funded research project concerning dengue surveillance and control in field sites in Sri Lanka and Thailand. Additionally, she oversees a prospective multi-center study evaluating the cost of dengue illness among international travelers, utilizing a network of travel clinics across Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Tozan is also working on the economic evaluation of artemisinin-based combination therapies for treating uncomplicated childhood malaria, supported by data from multi-site randomized clinical trials in Africa and Asia. Previously, she served on the UN Millennium Project’s Task Force for HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis, where she was the lead author on a prominent report detailing malaria challenges in the new millennium.
