Biography

Yi-Chih Lin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin since 2021. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania under Zahra Fakhraai from 2012 to 2017, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine from 2017 to 2021, working on Anesthesiology, Biochemistry, and Biophysics under Simon Scheuring. His research focuses on biophysics, particularly the interface of physical chemistry and structural molecular biology, with a keen interest in advanced imaging techniques. Lin's lab is at the forefront of developing High-Speed Atomic Force Microscopy (HS-AFM) to visualize single-molecule processes with high spatial and temporal resolution, targeting molecular dynamics in areas such as membrane proteins and protein-nucleic acid interactions. The Lin lab promotes an inclusive atmosphere for research and welcomes motivated students and postdocs to explore opportunities in biophysics and related fields. Current research interests extend to exploring the structure-function relationships of biomolecules and innovative approaches to understanding their roles in human diseases.
