Biography

Yi Li is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the University of Manitoba. She teaches graduate-level courses focused on language teaching methodology and language education narrative inquiry. Her research interests encompass narrative inquiry research methodology, hope studies, and the experiences of newcomers in Canada. With significant experience prior to her current role, she spent a decade as an English teacher in Shanghai. Additionally, she was a teacher education research scholar at the Centre for Research in Teacher Education and Development at the University of Alberta for two years and a post-doctoral fellow in the Hope Research Department of Educational Psychology at the same university under the Hope Foundation of Alberta. Her areas of specialization include hope studies and newcomers' wellbeing in Canada, multilingual development, and early years international education.
