Dr. Yilin Pan

Biography

Yilin Pan is an economist specializing in economic evaluation methods, including cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and cost-utility analyses, as well as impact evaluation and Bayesian statistics. Through rigorous methodologies, Yilin collaborates with a diverse range of stakeholders, including governments and educational institutions worldwide, to promote evidence-based, inclusive, and systematic decision-making in educational resource allocation. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia. Previously, Yilin served as an Educational Programme Specialist at UNESCO’s International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) and worked as an education economist at the World Bank. She has also held a postdoctoral researcher position at Columbia University. Yilin earned her Ph.D. in Economics of Education from Columbia University, along with an M.A. in Higher Education and a B.A. in English Literature and Linguistics from Tsinghua University. Through her work, she focuses on key areas such as educational equity and policies that enhance economic education. Her research interests include economics education, international comparative education, and various quantitative analysis techniques.
