Biography

Y.Y. Brandon Chen is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa, where he teaches public constitutional law, health law, and immigration and refugee law. His academic background includes an SJD, MSW, and JD from the University of Toronto, and a BSc from Emory University. Professor Chen's research focuses on the intersection of health law and international migration, examining the health inequities faced by noncitizens and racialized minorities. His published work covers various topics, such as health rights litigation, social determinants of health, and medical tourism. Additionally, he is an active member of the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Health Law, Policy and Ethics, and the Public Law Centre. Beyond academia, Professor Chen is involved in community-based work and provides pro bono legal services, having served on the boards of several non-profit organizations related to public health and legal advocacy.
