Ying Ge is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, affiliated with the Comprehensive Diabetes Center. He holds a PhD in Cell Regenerative Biology and Chemistry. His research primarily focuses on the development and application of ultra-high resolution mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics and metabolomics methods. As the Director of the Mass Spectrometry Human Proteomics Program (HPP), he provides consultations to investigators on campus and oversees HPP staff who support various proteomics and metabolomics projects at UW-Madison. Over the past years, the HPP facility has successfully completed five metabolomics projects, utilizing advanced Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance-MS techniques for both campus and industry users. Through collaboration with the Wisconsin Diabetes Research Center, Dr. Ge has established a high-throughput, highly reproducible ultra-high resolution MS-based metabolomics platform, which has been applied to studies involving islet, plasma, and muscle biosamples, particularly in relation to diabetes and muscle metabolism.
