Dr. Ying Tsui

Biography

Ying Tsui is a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta, specializing in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has held various administrative positions, including Acting Vice Dean and Associate Dean for Research and Internationalization. His scientific contributions include over 150 published articles and numerous invited talks. He has been a guest scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and a visiting scientist at Stanford's SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. His research primarily focuses on the interactions between electromagnetic waves and matter, with a particular interest in the development of photonic applications. Key areas of his work utilize ultrafast pump-probe techniques to explore the fundamental interactions of light with materials, especially in the context of High Energy Density Physics and environmental, energy, and biomedical applications. Additionally, he has been involved in various national and international research committees, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field of plasma physics and photonics.
