Biography

Dr. Yingda Lu is an Assistant Professor in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2015. His research interests lie in enhanced oil recovery, natural gas engineering, oil production, and pipeline transmission. Dr. Lu focuses particularly on flow assurance issues that hinder efficient oil and gas production, tackling complex problems through a multiscale approach that combines experimental and advanced computational techniques. His research aims to elucidate the fundamental physics of flow assurance issues and develop versatile models that can guide industrial practices. Current topics of research include paraffin gelation, deposition multiphase flow, asphaltene precipitation, and rheological behaviors of non-Newtonian petroleum fluids, along with applications of molecular simulation in oil and gas production.
