Biography

Yinghong Shang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Warwick. With a strong background in chemistry and educational training, he transitioned from a career in scientific research to a focus on teaching Mandarin. He holds a BSc from Peking University, an MSc from RIPP, and a PhD from Loughborough University, as well as a BA from Jinan University. Since his doctoral degree in 2007, Dr. Shang has developed a wealth of experience in teaching Chinese language modules to students at both beginner and advanced levels. He is actively involved in research related to Chinese language pedagogy and intercultural communication, and has been a member of the British Chinese Language Teaching Society since 2010. His expertise extends to serving as an examiner for Chinese language assessments at the Cambridge International Exam AQA and coordinating the National Calligraphy Competition for over a decade. Dr. Shang has also authored various publications, including both articles and a bilingual dictionary, further establishing his role as an influential figure in the field of Chinese language education.
