Yingqun Huang received his undergraduate medical degree from Fudan University School of Medicine in 1988 and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Connecticut Health Center in 1997. He completed postdoctoral studies with Dr. Gordon Carmichael and Dr. Joan Steitz at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Yale University School of Medicine, respectively. He joined the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale in 2003, became an Associate Professor in 2010, and was promoted to Full Professor in 2020. Dr. Huang's research focuses on metabolic disorders, obesity, diabetes, and reproductive cancers, utilizing cell and mouse models to uncover disease mechanisms. His work has highlighted the role of noncoding RNAs, particularly the long noncoding RNA H19, in various cancers and metabolic diseases. His research has resulted in multiple high-impact publications in journals such as Molecular Cell and Nature Communications. In addition to his research, Dr. Huang is dedicated to teaching and mentoring, having trained medical fellows and postdoctoral associates. He has received the Harold Behrman Teaching Award in recognition of his commitment to education.
