Yingxiao Wang is a professor and the department chair of the Alfred E. Mann Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC). He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in Mechanics, specializing in Fluid Mechanics from Peking University in Beijing, P.R. China, in 1992 and 1996, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego, at the Jacobs School of Engineering in 2002. Wang continued his postdoctoral work at UC San Diego in the Department of Pharmacology under Professors Shu Chien and Roger Y. Tsien. He joined USC in 2023 after serving as a faculty member in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and UC San Diego. Wang is a fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, the International Academy of Medical Biological Engineering, and the Biomedical Engineering Society. He has received numerous accolades, including the Wallace H. Coulter Early Career Award and the National Science Foundation CAREER Award. His research interests include cellular molecular engineering and live cell imaging to advance controllable cell-based therapy, focusing on the development of genetically-encoded biosensors to visualize molecular events in live cells and animals. His lab's support comes from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
