Biography

Professor Yinong Liu completed his B.Eng. degree at Beijing University of Science and Technology in 1982 and received his PhD from the University of Western Australia in 1991. He undertook postdoctoral research at the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France, in 1993 as a France-Australia Postdoctoral Fellow. Liu began his academic career at the University of Western Australia in 1994, where he has held various leadership roles including Head of the School of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics. Currently, he serves as the Associate Dean (International) in the Faculty of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. His active involvement in the academic community includes roles such as Chair of the National Committee on Nanoengineering, member of the Standards Australia Committee, and Associate Editor for journals related to shape memory and functional materials. Liu's research focuses on materials science and engineering, particularly physical metallurgy, shape memory alloys, metallic composites, and elastic strain engineering, among others. He has supervised 30 PhD students and published over 300 research articles, with significant contributions attracting 8000 citations and an h-index of 44.
