Biography

Yiping Chen is a Senior Research Fellow in the Clinical Trial Service Unit & Epidemiological Studies Unit at the University of Oxford, where he has worked since 1998. He plays a pivotal role in leading multi-disciplinary teams, notably overseeing the China Kadoorie Biobank, which involves 0.5 million participants. Chen's primary research interests include clinical epidemiology, cardiovascular diseases, major depression, and sleeping disorders. He has a significant history of involvement in large clinical trials, including COMMIT/CCS2, SHARP, and HPS2-THRIVE. Between 2006 and 2016, he contributed to the Oxford-China Fellowship programmes aimed at training clinical doctors and public health workers in epidemiology and medical statistics. Chen earned his MBBS from Shanghai Medical University in 1985 and later completed a PhD at the University of Oxford in 1993, following a scholarship that allowed him to study in the UK.
