Dr. Yiran Zhang

Biography

Yiran Zhang is an Assistant Professor at Cornell University, specializing in Labor Employment Law at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations and serving as an Associate Faculty Member at Cornell Law School. His research focuses on the governance of care work at the intersection of often-informal labor markets, the welfare state, and economic households. His current project employs a socio-legal approach to examine care subsidy programs in the United States, with a specific emphasis on the gender boundaries within work law. Yiran’s scholarship has been published in various prestigious journals, including the forthcoming Boston University Law Review, Indiana Law Journal, Stanford Law & Policy Review, Cornell International Law Journal, and Georgetown Immigration Law Journal. He holds a J.S.D. and LL.M. from Harvard Law School and completed his LL.B. at Tsinghua University, graduating in 2015. He further obtained his LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 2016 and completed his J.S.D. in 2022.
