Biography

Yiwei Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Consumer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on applied microeconomics, particularly the study of household finance and the intersection of economics and psychology. She is interested in understanding how consumers make financial decisions and how these decisions impact their well-being and market outcomes. Dr. Zhang's work explores the unintentional influences of the institutional environment on households’ financial choices. Prior to her role at UW-Madison, she was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago. Before that, she contributed as an economist at the Office of Research at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
