Dr. Ylva Hasselberg

Biography

Ylva Hasselberg is a Professor of Economic History at Uppsala University and the Director of the Uppsala STS (Science Technology Studies) program. Her research interests span decision-making in scientific contexts, business politics, and personal networks. She has examined the relationship between economic rationality and personal networks through an anthropological lens, which has contributed to the development of economic anthropology in a historical framework. Her extensive writing includes the exploration of both the negative and positive impacts of personal networks at societal, organizational, and individual levels. In recent years, her focus has included the history of social science and economic history, as well as the driving forces and consequences of research policy changes. Ylva has published several monographs and edited volumes, contributing significantly to the field of economic history in Sweden and beyond. She is engaged in several research projects, including the intellectual biography of Swedish economist Eli F. Heckscher, and she has a strong record of mentoring doctoral students in their research.
