Biography

Yoav Di-Capua is the Earl E. Sheffield Regents Professor of History at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also serves as the Director of the Institute of Historical Studies. He completed his Ph.D. in 2004 at Princeton University. His research primarily focuses on modern Arab intellectual history. Di-Capua's notable publications include 'Gatekeepers: The Arab Past and Historians of Twentieth-Century Egypt' published by the University of California Press in 2009, and 'Exit: Arab Existentialism, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Decolonization' published by the University of Chicago Press in 2018. He is currently finalizing a new history titled 'The Global Sixties in the Arab World'.
