Biography

Yonathan Fuchs, MD, is a board-certified pediatric transplant hepatologist at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. His practice focuses on pediatric gastroenterology and liver disease. Dr. Fuchs has expressed that the unique challenges and rewards of transplant hepatology make his work fulfilling, particularly his role as a child advocate and a member of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to transforming children’s lives during critical times. Dr. Fuchs obtained his medical degree from Tel Aviv University, Israel, and completed his pediatric residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, followed by a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New York. His interests in liver disease and immunology led him to Stanford University, where he completed his fellowship in transplant hepatology. His current research aims to understand how cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator enhancers affect CF-related liver disease and he collaborates with Yale's CF center to establish protocols for early detection of CF liver disease biomarkers through advanced imaging. He is also involved in the Yale Wilson Disease Registry to improve care for patients across the lifespan.
