Dr. Yong Hee Chun

Biography

Yong-Hee P. Chun is a Professor at UT Health San Antonio in the Department of Periodontics and has several cross-appointments in related departments including Cell Systems and Anatomy and Molecular Medicine. Dr. Chun's expertise encompasses oral biology, focusing on the development of dental therapies and understanding the diseases affecting dental tissues. She is a dentist, scientist, and educator committed to training future dentists and periodontists. Dr. Chun served as the TL1 co-director for the Translational Science Training program, which supports both predoctoral and postdoctoral scholars. Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Oral Health Sciences from the University of Michigan and a Dr. med. dent. in Oral Biology from the University of Goettingen, Germany. Dr. Chun has received numerous accolades, including fellowships from prestigious organizations such as the American Dental Education Association and the American Association for Dental Research. Her teaching contributions extend to several courses at UT Health San Antonio, where she integrates her research into the classroom, enhancing the educational experience for her students.
