Biography

Yong Suk Lee is a fellow at Stanford University's Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies and is affiliated with the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center, the Center for Global Poverty and Development, and the Center for East Asian Studies. His research primarily focuses on labor economics, technology entrepreneurship, and urban economics. Currently, he investigates the intersection of digital technology and labor, examining how new technologies impact labor markets and how societies respond to these changes. Lee's research also considers aspects of entrepreneurship, analyzing the influence of economic growth, education, and factors that foster productive entrepreneurial ecosystems. Before his tenure at Stanford, he served as an assistant professor of economics at Williams College in Massachusetts. He possesses a PhD in Economics from Brown University, a Master of Public Policy from Duke University, and both a bachelor's and master's degree in architecture from Seoul National University. In addition to his academic roles, Lee has worked as a real estate development consultant and an architectural designer, transitioning from architecture into economics.
