Biography

Mao holds a Bachelor's degree in Harbour, Coastal and Offshore Engineering from Hohai University, China, a Master's degree in Coastal Marine Engineering Management from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Netherlands, and a PhD in Remote Sensing Coastal Geomorphology from the University of Queensland, Australia. He has extensive experience in integrating coastal morphology knowledge with remote sensing and machine learning methods to understand shoreline changes. His research focuses on improving satellite-derived shoreline mapping through SAR-Optical fusion and employing spatio-temporal deep learning models to predict future shoreline changes at regional, continental, and global scales.
