Biography

Yongxin Chen was born in Ganzhou, Jiangxi, China. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in 2011, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Tryphon Georgiou from the University of Minnesota in 2016. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, he completed a one-year research fellowship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from August 2016 to August 2017 and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University from August 2017 to August 2018. His research interests include stochastic control and optimal transport optimization, with a current focus on intersection control and machine learning in robotics, aiming to develop theoretical foundations for algorithms that enable robots to accomplish complex tasks autonomously and reliably. He is involved in the Foundations of Learning Intelligent Robots (FLAIR), Decision Control Laboratory (DCL), and the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM).
