Biography

Yorgos Berdos is a Teaching Fellow in Computational Design and Visualization at the University of Edinburgh, where he also contributes as a part-time PhD candidate. He has previously lectured on Contemporary Practice at the University of Dundee and is a registered Architect with experience in both the UK and Greece. Yorgos studied architecture at the University of Thessaly in Greece and graduated with a Diploma in Architecture from HafenCity University in Hamburg, Germany. He holds a Master of Science degree from the Architectural Association’s EmTech program, where his studies focused on the integration of Emergent Technologies in design across various scales. Additionally, he completed a Smart Cities course at the MIT Media Lab as part of their City Science Lab initiatives. Yorgos has previously worked with small international firms, including Zaha Hadid Architects, and has served as an examiner for the Architects Registration Board in early 2018. His PhD research investigates the role of trust as a design parameter in scaling systems, with a particular focus on how contemporary architectural practices respond to advancements in blockchain technologies and smart cities. He is involved in ongoing collaborations that explore composite material systems, active fabrication, and the sharing economy in architecture.
