Dr. Yoseph Barash

Biography

Yoseph Barash is a Professor in the Department of Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. His work primarily focuses on the development of machine learning algorithms that are designed to integrate high-throughput data, particularly in the areas of RNA biogenesis and function. Barash's research employs various sequencing methods, including RNASeq, CLIPSeq, and PIPSeq, to infer and verify mechanisms related to RNA splicing and post-transcriptional regulation through computational biology. He obtained his B.Sc. in Computer Science and Physics from Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1998, and later completed his Ph.D. in Machine Learning and Computational Biology at the same institution in 2006. Barash has been a key figure in the intersection of machine learning and genomics, contributing significantly to high-throughput sequencing analysis.
