Biography

Young-geun Kim received a triple Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Statistics, and Mathematical Sciences from Seoul National University in 2015. He obtained his Ph.D. in Statistics from the same university in 2021. Prior to joining Michigan State University as an Assistant Professor, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biostatistics and the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University. His research interests include the theoretical properties of statistical distances and their applications in deep learning. His recent works focus on Wasserstein generative models, identifiable representation learning, off-policy policy evaluation, and applications to the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study as well as contingency management interventions for substance use disorder treatment.
