Dr. Yu Hsiang Hsieh

Biography

Yu-Hsiang Hsieh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. He specializes in infectious diseases epidemiology, with extensive experience in diagnostics and the epidemiology of HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Over the past two decades, Hsieh has collaborated on various projects within the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins, serving as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on numerous NIH-funded grants. His expertise in epidemiology and biostatistics focuses on acute care settings, particularly concerning HIV and STIs. Hsieh played a key role in establishing the emergency department-based HIV testing and linkage-to-care program at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2005, and he continues to be actively involved in programs aimed at enhancing HIV and HCV care. His scientific work has contributed to a better understanding of trends and gaps in HIV and HCV testing, leading to significant advancements in emergency department practices for managing infectious diseases. Hsieh has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles and has been active in various national conferences as a panelist and reviewer. He received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 1998 and his M.S. from National Taiwan University in 1993.
