Biography

Yu Ding is the Anderson-Interface Chair Professor at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. He obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2001, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University in 1998, an M.S. in Precision Instruments from Tsinghua University in 1996, and a B.S. in Precision Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1993. Before joining Georgia Tech in 2023, he served as the Mike Sugar Barnes Professor of Industrial Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University. He held significant administrative roles such as Associate Department Head for Graduate Affairs and Associate Director for Research Engagement at the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science. His research interests focus on engineering data science, aiming to integrate data-driven methods with physical engineering principles for model development and decision-making, particularly in wind energy and smart manufacturing. He has published numerous articles and has written books on data science applications, receiving recognition for his contributions to the field.
