Biography

Yu He joined Yale University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Physics in the fall of 2020. His research primarily utilizes light-matter interactions to investigate correlated electronic systems and functional quantum materials. His focus is on dissecting the microscopic degrees of freedom—such as electronic, lattice, and spin—of novel materials using techniques like angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and x-ray scattering. Complementary methodologies including electric transport, surface decoration, and crystal synthesis are employed to characterize and manipulate the properties of materials. Prior to his appointment at Yale, he worked as a Miller Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. During his academic career, He has published significant papers including works on superconducting fluctuations and angle-resolved photoemission studies of quantum materials, contributing to the advancement of knowledge within the field of applied physics.
