Biography

Yu Hou is an Associate Professor and KPMG Fellow in Accounting at the Smith School of Business, Queen’s University. His research encompasses diverse areas, focusing primarily on corporate litigation, financial accounting, and innovation. His work has been published in leading accounting journals such as the Accounting Review and Contemporary Accounting Research. In addition to his role at Queen’s University, Yu serves on the editorial board of Contemporary Accounting Research and has been recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer for the journal in 2024. His research has been supported by multiple grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), and he was honored with the New Researcher Award by the Smith School of Business in 2017. Yu obtained his PhD in Business Administration from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto in 2013 and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Tsinghua University. He has taught various courses related to management accounting at both the undergraduate and PhD levels and has supervised numerous PhD and MSc students.
