Dr. Yu Lei

Biography

Dr. Yu Leo Lei is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery. He is a certified member of the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology (ABOMP) and actively participates in the University of Michigan Oral Pathology Biopsy Service. Dr. Lei's academic background includes Ph.D. training at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). He completed a Head Neck Oncology research fellowship at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Before joining the University of Michigan, Dr. Lei served as a faculty member in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His research focuses on cancer immunology and he is affiliated with the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center as well as PIBS Graduate Programs in Immunology and Cancer Biology. Dr. Lei has received notable awards including the Joseph Lister Award from the International Association for Dental Research and the Leon Barnes Award from the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. He is also involved in editorial roles for prominent journals in the field.
