Biography

Yu Ma is a Professor of Marketing at McGill University, where he holds the position of Bensadoun Faculty Scholar and serves as the Academic Director of the McGill Institute of Marketing. He also directs the McGill Centre for Convergence in Health Economics. He obtained his PhD in Management from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, where he also completed his MSc. Yu's research interests encompass food marketing, retailing, and big data analytics, focusing on how consumer purchase data and statistical models can be utilized to gauge consumer responses to marketing incentives. His work examines the macro environmental influences on retail sectors and the implications for food marketing and population health. He has published in esteemed management journals, including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Management Science, and the Journal of Retailing, as well as in leading public health journals. Prior to joining McGill, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta. Yu Ma also serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Marketing and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Retailing.
