Biography

Yuan Cheng received his Bachelor degree from the Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science at Fudan University, China in July 2003, and his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore in April 2008. He joined Monash Suzhou and previously worked at the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) in Singapore from 2007 until February 2021 as a Senior Scientist and Group Manager. He visited Brown University, USA as a visiting scholar from February to June 2009. Dr. Cheng has edited books and served as Guest Editor for the International Journal of Computational Methods and Nanoscale Advances. He has been elected as a Fellow of the International Association for Computational Mechanics and has published over 100 journal papers with an H-index of 37. His research interests include multiscale modeling, bio-inspired materials, mechanical properties of nanomaterials, and machine learning in material science, with applications in the consumer care industry and wearable devices.
