Dr. Yuan He

Biography

Yuan He is a lecturer at University College London in the Institute for Global Prosperity. She is the Programme Lead for the MSc in Global Prosperity and co-leads the Asian Prosperity Hub. He has been actively involved in various initiatives, including the EDI Race Co-Lead position and co-editing the 'Global Prosperity Thought Practice' series published by UCL Press. In April 2024, she received funding through the UK-India Education Research Initiative to collaborate on a year-long project with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Her doctoral research examines the impact of democracy on the livelihoods of impoverished rural populations in India and China, with a focus resulting from her two-year fieldwork in those countries. With a strong academic background, including an MPhil and PhD in Development Studies from Cambridge University, Yuan's work emphasizes everyday politics and women's political participation in driving social change in Asia. Over the last five years, she has emerged as a recognized voice in feminist discourse in China, attracting significant attention through various media platforms, including YouTube and interviews.
