Biography

Yuan Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth System Science at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and a Center Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment. His research focuses on understanding the physical and chemical interactions among atmospheric constituents and their implications for climate change. His research group explores aerosol-cloud-radiation interactions, aerosol properties and haze formation, cloud precipitation microphysics, and the assessment of greenhouse gas and aerosol forcings in the atmosphere, oceans, and cryosphere. Wang has held academic positions including Associate Professor at Purdue University and research scientist at the California Institute of Technology. He employs multiscale numerical artificial intelligence models in conjunction with space-borne and in-situ measurements to address significant scientific questions. Wang has received several awards including the James B. Macelwane Medal and the James R. Holton Award from the American Geophysical Union. He is also a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union and was awarded the CAREER Award by the National Science Foundation.
