Dr. Yuchen Wu

Biography

Yuchen Wu is an Assistant Professor at Cornell University specializing in statistical machine learning methods. He completed his Ph.D. in 2023 under the supervision of Professor Andrea Montanari at Stanford University, where he established rigorous foundations for statistical machine learning. Prior to joining Cornell, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on the development of new algorithms guided by theoretical insights, particularly in the areas of Bayesian statistics, high-dimensional statistical settings, and learning from machine-generated data. Yuchen has been involved in analyzing and developing sampling algorithms, studying computational-statistical tradeoffs, and addressing misaligned incentives due to information asymmetry. He has contributed significantly to the field through invited talks and presentations at various prestigious conferences, including INFORMS and ICTP, and has published papers in reputable journals such as the Journal of Machine Learning Research and the Annals of Statistics.
