Biography

Yue Du is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management at Texas A&M University, where he joined in August 2025. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Beijing Normal University and a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Before joining Texas A&M, he completed his postdoctoral training as a Research Associate at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His research focuses on cognitive computational principles underlying motor behavior, with key topics including action control, lifespan development, sequence learning, timing perception, mechanical reasoning, and habit formation. At Texas A&M, he leads the ThincMo Lab, which investigates how individuals acquire skills, break habits, and develop expertise through deliberate practice using psychophysics experiments, computational modeling, and patient studies. His work aims to advance understanding of mind-movement interactions, enhance motor rehabilitation, and improve human performance in sports, education, and human augmentation. In addition to his academic work, he enjoys playing soccer and walking his dog.
