Biography

Yuefeng Sun is the Mollie B. & Richard Williford Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at Texas A&M University since 2012. Prior to his current role, he served as an Associate Professor at the same department beginning in 2007, and he previously held a position as an Associate Professor of Geophysics at the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 2006. Dr. Sun began his research career as a Doherty Associate Research Scientist at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University in 1998 and has also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow Logging Scientist at the same institution starting in 1995. His research interests focus on quantitative petroleum geology, particularly the characterization of ultra-deep petroleum systems and reservoir geophysics, including core-log-seismic-electromagnetic integration for reservoir description, deep/frontier exploration, enhanced oil and gas recovery, and carbon sequestration. He has extensive expertise in rock physics, involving petrophysical log analysis, poroelasticity, mechanics, and biogeophysics.
