Biography

Yufeng Liu is a Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Michigan. He joined the university from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also held a faculty position. His research focuses on statistical machine learning, complex data analysis, precision medicine, bioinformatics, and e-commerce. Liu has published more than 150 papers in leading statistical research application journals. He has served as a principal investigator on several research grants from notable organizations including the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Health. Throughout his career, he has received several prestigious awards, including the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation in 2008 and the Ruth Phillip Hettleman Prize for Artistic and Scholarly Achievement from UNC in 2010. In 2017, he was honored with the inaugural Leo Breiman Junior Award by the American Statistical Association. Liu is also a fellow of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and an elected member of the International Statistical Institute.
