Dr. Yufeng Tong

Biography

Yufeng Tong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. His research primarily focuses on Experimental Biochemistry, where he employs methods such as structural biology, X-ray crystallography, and solution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to study biomacromolecular interactions and molecular recognition. Dr. Tong is particularly interested in the molecular mechanisms of regulatory enzymes, with an emphasis on E3 ligases and deubiquitinases involved in ubiquitination—a key post-translational modification impacting cell signaling and stress responses. His work aims to develop tool molecules and small compounds that serve as biological binders, particularly ubiquitin variants, to study and regulate enzyme activities. He has published extensively on these topics and continues to contribute to the field through innovative research.
