Biography

Yuki Sio received her Master of Public Health from Simon Fraser University in Canada and holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from National Taiwan University. With over 10 years of clinical experience as a board-certified ophthalmologist, she specializes in glaucoma, retinal diseases, cataracts, dry eye syndrome, and uveitis. Her research interests encompass ophthalmology, public health, and health economics, particularly outcome evaluation. Currently, she is working on the CanProCo study, a five-year prospective cohort study aimed at understanding the progression of multiple sclerosis through data collection in fields such as epidemiology and neuroimaging. Additionally, Sio has initiated the Early Health Technology Assessment platform, which uses health economics methods to evaluate new health technologies in their early product life cycle. She is also investigating the impact of COVID-19 on hepatitis C services to improve healthcare policies in this area. Outside of academia, Sio enjoys hiking with her six-year-old son and traveling to Japan, where she loves to indulge in sushi and ramen.
