Biography

Yulan is an Honorary Professor at the University of Warwick and a Professor in Natural Language Processing at King's College London. He has published over 210 papers covering areas such as natural language understanding, sentiment analysis, opinion mining, question answering, topic/event extraction, and biomedical text mining. Yulan currently holds a five-year Turing AI Fellowship funded by UK Research Innovation (UKRI). He obtained his Ph.D. degree in spoken language understanding, as well as MEng and BASc (First Class Honours) degrees in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research is focused on exploring statistical models for representing uncertainty, which can benefit a wide range of application areas, particularly the integration of machine learning with natural language processing for text understanding.
