Dr. Yulia Nesterova

Biography

Yulia Nesterova is an interdisciplinary scholar and educator focusing on education, peacebuilding, and justice. She currently serves as a lecturer at the University of Glasgow within the School of Education. Her roles include being a member of the International Working Group on Youth, Peace, and Security and co-chairing the Peace Education Special Interest Group for the Comparative and International Education Society. Nesterova's research centers on issues of historical, epistemic, and relational injustices, the role of education in peace and reconciliation, and intergroup relationships. She leads multiple projects, including participatory action research in Bosnia and Herzegovina aimed at rebuilding peace. With extensive professional experience in research, policy development, and curriculum design across various global contexts, she has worked with organizations such as UNESCO and contributes to national and international education forums. Nesterova has conducted fieldwork in diverse regions, including Africa, Asia, and Europe, focusing on the educational rights and well-being of marginalized populations.
