Biography

Yumi Sheehan is a Senior Research Associate at the Kirby Institute, where she leads the prison-focused hepatitis C research team within the Viral Immunology Systems Program (VISP). Her research primarily focuses on improving hepatitis C care in prisons, with specific expertise in point-of-care testing, models of care, health literacy, education, and surveillance. Yumi’s research interests span the full spectrum of prison-based hepatitis C care, including advocacy, testing, treatment, prevention, and modeling health economics. She is a key leader in the Australian National Prisons Hepatitis Network and its international counterpart, INHSU Prisons, and has contributed to the development of national and global practice guidelines for the management of viral hepatitis in prisons.
