Biography

Yun Xu has been a Professor of Biofluid Mechanics at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London since 2009. He has held several leadership roles including Co-Chair of the Equality, Diversity Culture Committee and Director of Graduate School. Prior to his professorship, he was a Reader and Senior Lecturer in the same department. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from City University, London, with a thesis focused on the numerical analysis of blood flow in three-dimensional arterial bifurcations. His research interests include computational modelling of blood flow and tissue mechanics in the cardiovascular system, with applications evaluating hemodynamic performance of medical devices and predicting outcomes of endovascular interventions for treating aortic diseases. Additionally, he focuses on multiscale modelling of blood clot formation and treatment, as well as multi-physics modelling for drug delivery in solid tumors, including the development of thermosensitive liposomal drug delivery systems. His contributions to research and student experience have been recognized with several prestigious awards from Imperial College.
