Biography

Yuner Huang is a lecturer in Structural Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, having joined the School of Engineering in July 2015. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Hong Kong in 2009 and received his PhD in Structural Engineering from the same university in 2013. Yuner teaches courses including Detailed Design of Structures 3, Thin-Walled Members Stability 4/5/MSc, and Steel Structures 4/MSc. His research interests span material properties, buckling, fatigue of steel structural components, sectional properties, as well as the design of columns, beams, and beam-column connections. Yuner has extensive experience using both experimental and computational methods, particularly finite element analysis, to address complex engineering challenges. He is also actively involved in research projects focused on offshore renewable energy structures, life-cycle analysis, circular economy in the built environment, and enhancing structural resilience in the face of natural disasters and climate change.
