Dr. Yuri Bazilevs

Biography

Yuri Bazilevs is the E. Paul Sorensen Professor at Brown University, specializing in engineering with a focus on computational mechanics and related disciplines. As the Co-Director of the Mechanics Undersea Science Engineering Center, he leads initiatives that drive advancements in understanding complex fluid-structure interactions, high-performance computing, and isogeometric analysis. His research encompasses a broad spectrum of topics including computational solids, fluid mechanics, and the innovative use of computer simulations to address engineering challenges. Through his leadership, Bazilevs contributes significantly to the fields of defense, energy, aerospace, and biomedical applications, tackling key research challenges and fostering collaboration among experts. He has been recognized for his achievements, including induction into the 2024 Class of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering College of Fellows.
