Dr. Yuri Novitsky

Biography

Dr. Yuri William Novitsky is a prominent figure in advanced laparoscopic robotic surgery, particularly recognized for his work in complex inguinal and ventral hernia repairs. He is dedicated to improving patient outcomes in hernia surgery and has focused his research on advancing surgical techniques and improving tissue responses to surgical mesh. Dr. Novitsky is known for his pioneering techniques in minimally-invasive ventral hernia repair and open abdominal wall reconstructions, including the transversus abdominis muscle release (TAR), which has been widely adopted and was documented in a significant publication in 2009. His professional leadership includes roles such as chair of the Practice Advisory Committee for the Americas Hernia Society and memberships in several committees of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). He has contributed to over 130 peer-reviewed journal articles and has mentored post-doctoral students, demonstrating his commitment to medical education and patient care.
