Dr. Yuvisthi Naidoo

Biography

Yuvisthi Naidoo is a Senior Lecturer at the Social Policy Research Centre at UNSW Sydney. He holds a Bachelor of Economics with Honours in Econometrics from the University of Sydney, a Master of Policy Studies from UNSW, and a PhD from UNSW in Arts, Design, and Architecture. His research focuses primarily on social policy, poverty, inequality, and wellbeing. With a unique skill set that includes robust quantitative analysis and qualitative research methods, Yuvisthi applies this knowledge to improve the lives of socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. His extensive experience includes involvement in various projects funded by the Australian Research Council, addressing issues like poverty and social exclusion through both academia and practical partnerships with community organizations. Before his academic career, Yuvisthi worked in market research for major corporations including Unilever and IBM, and he has also held leadership roles in research initiatives aimed at developing economic metrics for social indicators. He is committed to aligning his research with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to objectives that target the elimination of poverty and promotion of wellbeing. His teaching also encompasses courses on poverty and inequality, ensuring students are equipped with an understanding of social disadvantage in Australia.
