Biography

Yuxin Chen is a Professor in the Department of Statistics and Data Science and holds a secondary appointment in Electrical Systems Engineering at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He serves as the PhD Coordinator for the Statistics program. His research interests encompass a broad spectrum of areas including statistics, optimization, reinforcement learning, machine learning theory, and information theory, particularly focusing on the theoretical aspects of statistical machine learning. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2015, where he was advised by Andrea J. Goldsmith. Prior to his current role, he was an Associate Professor at Princeton University and a Postdoctoral Researcher at Stanford University. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the SIAM Activity Group Imaging Science Paper Prize and the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship.
